Eating healthy during pregnancy is very important. You should remember that you are eating for two, but your baby needs certain things as it develops throughout the months ahead. For this reason, it is important not only to focus on the main meals that you eat but the pregnancy snacks that you add in as well.

Many women are unable to eat full meals due to nausea and morning sickness. For this reason, having snacks throughout the day can be an important part of any pregnancy. It is also a good idea to snack during the day so that you can keep your energy up and to gain the right amount of foods that will keep your pregnancy and your baby healthy. Below are some of the healthy snacks that you can choose from while you are pregnant.

1. Fruit

Fruit are an excellent choice even when you’re not pregnant. Apples, bananas, pears and other fruits are all simple to enjoy and offer nutrients that your body needs to stay healthy. You can also enjoy a fruit cups, that are packed in their own juices rather than in sugary syrup.

2. Raisins

Raisins are an excellent source of vitamins and minerals that your body needs while you are pregnant and they are sweet enough to satisfy a sweet tooth. If you find yourself looking for a snack after a meal or throughout the day and are looking for something sweet, raisins may be do the trick for you.


3. Yogurt

Yogurt is an easy snack and it can provide you with a quarter of the calcium that your body needs as well as many other vitamins and nutrients. It can also help protect your digestive track and help with digestion as well. One great option when it comes to yogurt is Greek yogurt, which has grown in popularity over the years.


4. Trail mix that you make yourself

You can easily add some whole grain cereal to a handful of dried fruits and nuts and keep it in a resealable bag. There are many options when it comes to making your own trail mix and the variety is a great way to keep some other fruits around that have great benefits due to their vitamins.


5. Salad bar

The salad bar is a great way to eat out for lunch or dinner and be able to enjoy a whole day’s worth of fruits and vegetables. You can easily add a variety of the vegetables so that you have everything that you need in regards to protein, iron, fiber and potassium.


6. Carrots

By keeping a few baby carrots around, you will be able to consume vitamin A and fiber throughout the day. You can easily keep these in a small serving bag and can even dip them in certain things like hummus and salad dressing for a little bit of flavor.


7. String cheese

These are filled with calcium and can provide you with a good majority of protein that you need on a daily basis as well. These are also easy to transport and are a quick snack for you to enjoy throughout the day.


8. Whole-grain cereal

These are also an easy way to have a quick snack at your desk and can give you a lot of essential vitamins and minerals. Many of them even come with folic acid which is very important when you are pregnant.


9. Cottage cheese

Cottage cheese is a good source of calcium and there are even single serving containers available at most grocery stores in the dairy section. Some people enjoy adding fruit of nuts to these, which can make them taste a little bit better.

When you are pregnant there are many things that you can enjoy as a snack that will provide you with minerals and nutrients that you need to stay healthy. You should keep the snacks on hand so that you can fight cravings and maintain a healthy diet while you’re pregnant.

You should also avoid things that are bad for you while you’re pregnant and by keeping healthy snacks nearby, you will have a better chance of doing so. Many of these snacks can also help fight morning sickness and nausea, while you’re pregnant as well. Your doctor may also be able to provide you with some ideas as to how to have healthy snacks throughout the day as well as how many calories you should be focusing on and the types of food that you need to stay healthy.
