When you want to get pregnant now, it can seem like any amount of waiting is too much. Fortunately, if you sit down and make a plan, you can increase your chances of getting pregnant, and you can get pregnant faster. Here’s how to do it:

1. Know When You Ovulate

The best way to get pregnant is to know when your fertile days are. Women don’t always understand that there are only 12-48 hours during each month when it is physically possible to get pregnant. After a woman ovulates, the egg only lives for 12-48 hours at the most, and then it begins to disintegrate.

That is why it is so important to know when you are going to be ovulating. You can also chart your basal body temperature or make note of your cervical mucus in order to figure out when you are ovulating. Many women choose to use an over the counter ovulation predictor kit.

2. Have Sex When It Counts

Once you know when your fertile days are, make sure to have sex at the right times. Some couples choose to have sex the day before they expect ovulation to occur, in order to give the sperm a “head start”, since sperm can live up to five days in the womb.

Other couples choose to have sex on ovulation day only. Other couples choose to have sex every second day during ovulation week. The choice is really up to you and your partner, but make sure you think it through and plan your sex during ovulation week carefully.

3. Give Things A Boost

If you are trying to get pregnant, you should do whatever you can to give your fertility a little boost. Eating a healthy diet and taking prenatal vitamins is a great place to start.  Other women choose to exercise and try to lose weight. If you are overweight, losing five to ten pounds can really boost fertility.

Most women choose to cut their caffeine intake and alcohol consumption, as well as drop their smoking habit while they are trying to conceive. Make sure to get enough sleep and reduce stress in any way you can as well for an added fertility boost.

4. Talk To Your Doctor

Seeing a doctor before you begin trying to conceive is also a great idea. You can talk about your family history with your doctor, and he or she may be able to do some blood tests and a physical as well. He or she may be able to give you some tips on getting pregnant faster.

Don’t forget, also, that if you are under 35 and have been trying to conceive for over a year, that it is time to go back to your doctor again. Same thing goes for trying to conceive for more than six months if you are over 35. There are many things you can do to improve your chances of getting pregnant fast if you are ready to start a family right now.
